Dear Northlake Elementary neighbors, 

Since its founding in 1968, Northlake Elementary school has been serving the students and families of Lake Highlands with passion and heart. Every year, the PTA's involvement and impact on the students and staff of NLE have grown exponentially! 

Northlake Elementary serves roughly 550 Lake Highlands students per year in grades Pre-K through Sixth Grade. Northlake is rich in diversity. We serve students and families from an array of cultures and ethnicities as well as socioeconomic standings. We are a Title One school, meaning that more than 40% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. As of today, 64% of our families have been identified as Economically Disadvantaged. Diversity is an important piece of a community and something Northlake fully embraces:

• 46% Hispanic
• 28% African American
• 20% White
• 4% Asian
• 2% multi-Race 
• 43% Speak Spanish as their first language

The mission for Northlake PTA is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for ALL children.  This year, we have a goal of raising $65,000 to assist faculty and staff in making this mission a reality. 

Here is how we plan to spend funds this year:

• Programs to address basic needs for students and families
• Classroom materials and support for more individualized student coaching
• Professional development conferences and substitute teachers
• Annual field trips for each grade level and each student
• Fun and educational programs to encourage family involvement
• Teacher appreciation meals
• Rewards and Incentives for academic achievement and outstanding citizenship
• Materials for the first harvest from our new garden
